PROJECTS

Behind the Horizon Line (in production)
2025

This short fiction film is inspired by the work of poet Etel Adnan about borders and their afterlives. A Lebanese scientist contracted to gather soil samples begins to unravel as she investigates mysterious phenomena on Mt. Tamalpais. While grappling with the dehumanizing bureaucracy of her visa process, sh becomes obsessed with the mountain’s secrets—questioning whether she’s losing her mind or discovering a hidden reality.

My screenplay will be realized by a transnational collective group of friends this summer 2025.

Treasure Island 2023 | 11:24 minutes

"Treasure Island" is an experimental short film that looks at the history of San Francisco's Treasure Island while it undergoes a new wave of displacement as a proclaimed "Eco-City"
by San Franciscan development. Combining observational footage, interviews, and archival footage, the film illuminates the island's various histories as a site for ideological projections about the future in contrast with the urgent dreams of those who currently call it home.

Many Moons
2023 | 21:43 minutes

Charlie Moon’s mythology precedes him: his image and name live on as the “last Chinese Man of Humboldt County” after the purging of its Chinese community in 1885– and his descendents, known as the Moons, touch all local native tribes in the area. But were there others who survived?

With the help of Yurok, Hupa, and Chinese American residents– and framed by archival remnants– Many Moons investigates the ghostly marks left on a landscape repurposed for settlement. As a ghost responds, a missing persons case becomes an interrogation of history-making as Asian community members breathe life back into gaps in the archive.
